Rebecca Shirley, Founder
Hello there, my name is Rebecca! I want to extend a warm welcome to Rocky Mountain Sitters. I've had a genuine passion for working with children for as long as I can remember, and I can't imagine a life where I am not working with or caring for them. I started babysitting as soon as I was old enough and founded my first childcare company while studying to become a paramedic in Virginia. I was able to make lasting connections with over 2,000 families in my community while managing 50 incredible local sitters and nannies. In January of 2023 I sold Tidewater Tots Childcare to one of the company managers before embarking on a three-day journey to Colorado Springs to be with family. Since relocating here, I have had the pleasure of connecting with numerous wonderful families and discovered they were still struggling to find trustworthy sitters when I was unavailable. This inspired me to establish Rocky Mountain Sitters! My goal is to be a valuable and reliable resource for families in my community, providing parents with peace of mind while delivering exceptional, safe, and enjoyable care for their children.
Outside of operating Rocky Mountain Sitters, I am a paramedic with a degree in Emergency Medical Services and a Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification. I am also about to begin a bridge program to go from paramedic to RN, and hope to work in a Children's Hospital! When I have some extra free time, I love doing anything outside- hiking, biking, running, skiing, kayaking, you name it! From the bottom of my heart, I am so excited you are here, and can't wait to serve your family!
Julia Arroyo, Manager
Hello, my name is Julia! I met Rebecca while working together in the emergency room, and we quickly became close friends due to our shared love of childcare, pitbulls, and watching The Office. I have experience as a nanny for a family with six boys, ranging from 6 months to 13 years, and worked with this wonderful family for two summers. I nannied for another family with two children, aged four and six, whom I met through my beloved church community. Before working in a hospital, I was a kindergarten teacher for a year and a half and even became a babysitter for some of the kiddos I used to teach! I have experience working with children of all ages, including those with autism and other special needs.
Although I managed RMS in Colorado Springs for over a year, I recently moved to Fort Worth, Texas, to be with family and continue my nursing education. My ultimate goal is to become a pediatric nurse! I am so blessed to have the opportunity to continue to be part of such an incredible team and manage our wonderful sitters and clients remotely. Coming from a military family, I am very familiar with handling unpredictable schedules and the unique challenges of military life. When I'm not at school or caring for little ones, I enjoy spending quality time with my loved ones and my rescued pitbull, Athena.
